About PNC-27
PNC-27 is an experimental, non-toxic, membrane-active peptide. It consists of a specific p53-derived amino acid sequence attached to a penetratin sequence, which facilitates its delivery across cell membranes. In preclinical research models, PNC-27 has shown a unique affinity for binding to HDM-2 (Human Double Minute-2) protein, which is often atypically expressed in the cell membranes of certain dysfunctional or malformed cells.
Upon binding to these specific cell surface markers, PNC-27 induces pore formation in the cell membrane, leading to rapid, targeted necrosis of these specific cells without causing damage to adjacent healthy cells. Due to this highly selective targeting mechanism, PNC-27 is a compound of significant interest in experimental oncology and cellular pathology research.
