About FOX04
FOX04, specifically the modified peptide known as FOXO4-DRI (D-Retro-Inverso), is an experimental senolytic agent designed to selectively induce apoptosis in senescent cells. Senescent cells are damaged cells that resist death and accumulate with age, secreting inflammatory factors (SASP) that contribute to tissue dysfunction and aging. FOXO4-DRI works by competitively binding to p53, preventing it from interacting with the endogenous FOXO4 protein. This disruption releases p53, allowing it to migrate to the nucleus and trigger apoptosis specifically in these dysfunctional senescent cells while leaving healthy cells largely unaffected.
In preclinical studies, clearance of senescent cells using FOXO4-DRI has been associated with improvements in tissue homeostasis, restoration of fitness, and mitigation of age-related decline. It remains a highly significant compound in contemporary anti-aging and longevity research.
